Description

SAIC is seeking an experienced Acquisition Payload Systems Engineer with technical and practical understanding of space systems and phenomenology to support a Major System Acquisition development in support of resiliency spanning a diverse set of global threats. The engineer should have experience in the design, development, and testing of satellite technologies. The engineer should understand both technical and programmatic aspects of complex satellite systems, including operational concepts, applied technology, and system architectures, in order to facilitate the demonstration and transition of novel resilient capabilities to operations. The engineer should be comfortable working amongst a diverse and energetic team in the pursuit of mission objectives and project success.

The engineer will advise the customer on how to coordinate with internal and external community partners to execute a Major System Acquisition for successful transition. The ideal candidate will have proven success managing complex programs within the DoD or Intelligence Community (IC), ensuring timely delivery of space-based capabilities to support strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform analysis and apply critical thinking to complex problems, providing recommendations and thoroughly vetted courses-of-action to government customers.
  • Evaluate requirements and associated verification and validation strategies for satisfaction of government objectives.
  • Collaborate with industry partners throughout the design, manufacture, integration and test, deployment, and operations phases of the system.
  • Evaluate contract deliverables, collaborate with industry partners and internal stakeholders based upon findings, and provide thorough recommendations to government customers.
  • Support program lifecycle design reviews, enterprise readiness reviews, and oversight check point reviews as a key technical subject matter expert.
  • Prepare and present program briefings to leadership, government sponsors, and oversight bodies.
  • Mitigate risks through proactive identification, issue resolution, and decision-making.
  • Maintain program documentation and reporting in compliance with federal acquisition standards and security protocols.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Counter-Intelligence polygraph.
  • BS in engineering or science discipline related to physics, engineering, or mathematics
  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more relevant experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more relevant experience; PhD and four (4) years or more relevant experience
  • Experience with the Intelligence Community and/or the Department of Defense architectures, spacecraft, and payloads
  • Proactive with superb technical skills and experience related to space hardware, and satellite sensors and subsystems
  • Effective interpersonal skills (across multiple groups, offices, and organizations) and strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Expert knowledge of government acquisition processes, including Interface Control Documents, Capability Description Documents, Requirements Documents, and other technical contract documentation.
  • Ability to communicate very technical subjects to a diverse audience of senior decision makers with varying levels of technical expertise
  • Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment
  • Understanding of space systems and the corresponding design, development, manufacture, integration & test, launch integration, mission assurance, space vehicle environmental testing, deployment, operations, and decommissioning activities
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office for technical document development
