DB2 Database administrator for z/OS

Gejits Infotech Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe DB2 z/OS Administrator with strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS, mainframe infrastructure, database administration, performance tuning, system recovery, and application integration to support one of our state government clients.

Required Skills and Experience

• Advanced experience with DB2 for z/OS, including:

  • Database administration

  • Application integration

  • Performance management and tuning

  • DB2 upgrades and migrations

  • Catalog maintenance

  • Subsystem point-in-time recovery

• Advanced knowledge of JCL

• In-depth knowledge of the z/OS platform and mainframe environment

• Strong experience with CA Gen model management and application object support

• In-depth knowledge of ISPF

• Experience with ASG Scheduler

• Strong knowledge of COBOL

• Experience using and interpreting DB2 for z/OS database monitoring tools

• Experience using and interpreting z/OS system and software monitoring tools

• Strong experience with technical infrastructure implementation planning and coordination

• Experience creating, configuring, and managing z/OS started tasks

• Working knowledge of IBI z/OS service support

• Working knowledge of AFOPER commands

• Experience with RACF

• Experience with CICS

• Experience with IOF

• Strong understanding of Disaster Recovery and mainframe recovery requirements

• Experience with Oracle database administration, application integration, and performance management

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server / MSSQL database administration, application integration, and performance management

• Experience with infrastructure change management and verification testing

• Working knowledge of z/OS EXITs

• Working knowledge of BJS

• Working knowledge of Windows Server environments

Key Responsibilities

• Support and administer enterprise DB2 for z/OS environments.

• Perform database performance monitoring, tuning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

• Support DB2 upgrades, catalog maintenance, backup, recovery, and point-in-time recovery activities.

• Support mainframe applications and infrastructure running on the z/OS platform.

• Coordinate infrastructure implementations, upgrades, and production changes.

• Support Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and recovery activities.

• Work with development and infrastructure teams supporting COBOL, CICS, JCL, CA Gen, RACF, Oracle, and SQL Server environments.

• Perform verification testing associated with infrastructure changes.

• Troubleshoot production incidents involving databases, mainframe systems, schedulers, and application services.
