Job Title: DB 2 – Data Engineer / Python

Location: Houston, TX – Hybrid (3 Days Onsite)

TOP MUST-HAVE SKILLS:

• Expert-level DB2 / IBM iSeries SQL Stored Procedures – MUST HAVE
• Strong hands-on Python Services experience
• Oracle Database & Data Pipelines
• RPG to SQL Stored Procedure Conversion / Modernization
• Advanced SQL Development & Performance Tuning
• IBM iSeries / AS400 Development

Required Skills:

• Strong experience developing and maintaining database applications on IBM iSeries / DB2 for i.
• Expert-level SQL Stored Procedures development on DB2 IBM iSeries – MUST HAVE. 
• Candidates with only embedded SQL and RPG experience will not be considered.
• Experience with Dynamic SQL, SQL Stored Procedures, performance tuning, logging, and exception handling.
• Strong experience with RPG IV, RPGLE, RPG Free, and embedded SQL.
• Hands-on experience with RPG-to-SQL Stored Procedure conversion/modernization.
• Strong Python services development experience.
• Experience with Oracle Database and data pipelines.
• Experience working with SQL cursors.
• Experience developing applications using REST APIs and JSON.
• Exposure to Python, microservices, and VS Code.
• Experience with Git/source control and integration.
• Familiarity with IBM i tools such as Aldon, RDi, and ACS.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and modernize DB2 applications on the IBM iSeries platform.
• Convert legacy RPG programs into SQL Stored Procedures.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL procedures and database solutions.
• Build and support Python services and data pipelines.
• Integrate backend applications with REST APIs and front-end systems.
• Troubleshoot performance, logging, and exception-handling issues.
