Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeling Manager to lead our Enterprise Data Modeling team within the healthcare domain. In this role, you will oversee the design and governance of logical and physical data models that power our clinical, pharmacy, and financial systems.

The ideal candidate must have strong healthcare data experience and will be responsible for ensuring that our data architecture is scalable, high-performing, and fully compliant with HIPAA and HITRUST regulations. You will also act as the primary liaison between clinical business stakeholders and engineering teams, ensuring our data models accurately reflect real-world healthcare workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Data Architecture

• Establish enterprise-wide standards for conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.

• Ensure alignment between legacy mainframe systems (DB2/VSAM) and modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake/BigQuery).

Healthcare Interoperability

• Design data structures supporting healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 v2, C-CDA, and FHIR (R4/R5).

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of Data Modelers.

• Conduct SQL and DDL code reviews to ensure performance, scalability, and adherence to data standards.

Regulatory Compliance

• Implement Privacy by Design principles across all models.

• Ensure Protected Health Information (PHI) is properly isolated, masked, or encrypted to meet HIPAA and regulatory compliance.

Terminology Mapping

• Oversee integration of standard medical terminologies including ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED-CT, LOINC, and RxNorm into enterprise data assets.

Modernization Initiatives

• Lead migration from traditional relational models to modern architectures such as Data Vault 2.0 or Star Schema models to support AI/ML and advanced analytics.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience

• 10+ years of overall experience in Data Modeling and Data Architecture

• 7+ years of healthcare domain experience (Claims, Clinical, or Pharmacy data) – Mandatory

Data Modeling Tools

• Expertise with erwin Data Modeler, ER/Studio, or Hackolade (NoSQL modeling)

Database & Cloud Platforms

• Strong experience with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL

• Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse

Healthcare Data Standards

• Knowledge of OMOP or i2b2 common data models is a strong plus

Modeling Methodologies

• Strong understanding of 3NF normalization for transactional systems

• Expertise in Dimensional Modeling (Kimball/Inmon) for analytics

Data Governance

• Experience with Data Catalog and Lineage tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Informatica
