An entertainment streaming company in California/Connecticut is seeking a Senior Roku Engineer to join their growing team in Los Angeles/Stamford.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: Standard business
- Setting: Hybrid (at least 4 days a week onsite)
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain Roku application features using BrightScript and SceneGraph
- Refactor tightly coupled code to improve architecture, maintainability, and scalability
- Integrate and troubleshoot APIs, authentication flows, playback functionality, and multiple user screens
- Support production issues and collaborate with engineering partners to deliver durable fixes
- Work closely with the team to communicate technical decisions clearly and contribute to clean, well-factored code
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of hands-on Roku development experience with BrightScript and SceneGraph
- Experience building production Roku applications that include authentication, APIs, playback integration, and multiple screens or user flows
- Strong understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, separation of concerns, and refactoring
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs into application workflows
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, onsite team environment
Desired Skills:
- Experience with streaming playback concepts, HLS, DASH, adaptive bitrate behavior, and DRM
- Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript for internal tooling and automation
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release automation
- Exposure to Roku platform integrations, such as deep linking, search feeds, continue watching, Roku Pay, or advertising frameworks
- Experience debugging production issues using Roku developer tools, profiling tools, or telemetry dashboards
- Background with other living-room or connected TV platforms
