About the RoleWe are seeking a
Senior Data Software Engineer to support large-scale data platform initiatives, including the migration of ORCA VM infrastructure to
Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). In this role, you will work on moderately complex software engineering challenges, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of big data solutions.
This position is part of a
Kanban-based team delivering quarterly releases. Occasional schedule flexibility may be required.
Responsibilities- Consult on and contribute to moderately complex software engineering initiatives and deliverables.
- Design, develop, and optimize data-driven solutions using Python, Java, and Big Data technologies.
- Support and participate in infrastructure and data platform migration to Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Work with large-scale datasets using tools such as BigQuery, Hadoop, and related big data frameworks.
- Analyze software engineering challenges, evaluate variable factors, and recommend effective technical solutions.
- Collaborate closely with client and internal engineering teams to ensure delivery of software engineering objectives.
- Apply a solid understanding of engineering standards, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications- 4+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of:
- Professional work or consulting experience
- Training or certifications
- Military experience
- Education
Preferred Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in data or software engineering roles.
- Strong experience with Python and Java.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), including BigQuery.
- Experience working with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop.
- Strong database development and optimization experience.
- Experience working in Agile or Kanban environments.
Additional Information- This role is a backfill position.
- Contractors are generally not required to participate in quarterly releases
