OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and highly skilled
Citrix Engineer to lead the architecture, implementation, and long-term success of a modern Citrix DaaS environment hosted in
Microsoft Azure. This role functions as a senior technical specialist and engineering leader, responsible for designing the future-state platform, evaluating the current VDI landscape, and guiding the migration and operationalization of a cloud-first virtual desktop environment.
The ideal candidate combines deep Citrix and Azure expertise with strong architectural judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, security, networking, identity, and application teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Engineering- Serve as the technical specialist for Citrix and VDI technologies, providing architecture guidance and hands-on engineering leadership
- Design, deploy, migrate, maintain, and monitor a Citrix DaaS environment in Microsoft Azure
- Architect infrastructure solutions to meet requirements for security, scalability, resiliency, and performance
- Evaluate existing on-prem or legacy VDI systems and define modernization/migration strategies
- Design and maintain technical standards, documentation, and operational runbooks
Cloud & Citrix Platform Delivery- Architect and deliver a new cloud-hosted Citrix DaaS platform
- Lead implementation of Citrix Cloud services such as:
- Citrix DaaS
- uberAgent
- Citrix Device Trust & App Protection
- Support application containerization, streaming, and optimization for virtualized environments
- Develop automation for provisioning, access, entitlements, and lifecycle management
- Implement platform health, performance, and experience monitoring using APIs, Graph, and reporting tools like Power BI
Collaboration & Leadership- Partner with cross-functional teams including cloud, identity, networking, and security
- Coordinate work with vendors and technology partners as required
- Mentor junior engineers and review designs, changes, and implementations
- Engage with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend solutions
Governance, Controls & Best Practices- Identify and escalate risks, performance issues, or control gaps
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and industry best practices for cloud, VDI, and virtualization technologies
- Support audit processes and timely remediation efforts
Required Qualifications- Minimum of 8 years of combined experience in infrastructure engineering, systems design, or enterprise architecture
- Strong understanding of infrastructure lifecycle management and IT service management
- Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale VDI or application delivery platforms
- Solid hands-on experience with:
- Citrix DaaS / Citrix Cloud
- Microsoft Azure (networking, security, identity, monitoring)
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Advanced experience with Citrix Cloud technologies
- Strong Azure experience including hybrid connectivity and identity integration
- Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into well-structured solution architectures
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience integrating third-party tools and working with vendors
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions
- Highly organized, process-oriented engineering mindset
- Deep knowledge of server, client, virtualization, and cloud ecosystem technologies
- Ability to manage complex technical tasks with minimal supervision
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
