Summary

Role: Senior Security Engineer
Rate: $75/hour W2
Location: Remote | Local candidates able to come onsite in Philadelphia are a plus.
Schedule: EST Hours

This Senior Security Engineer role supports incident response, threat detection, and security operations enablement, with a strong focus on onboarding newly acquired companies and ensuring they meet security standards. The ideal candidate comes from a SOC or incident response background, with strong cybersecurity engineering experience and the ability to operate across multiple teams in a fast moving environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, review, and reconcile security logs and events; escalate and coordinate security incidents as needed
  • Provide high level support for security incidents and related help desk tickets
  • Support threat detection, incident response, and incident problem coordination activities
  • Perform complex and routine updates for security tools and platforms
  • Support end to end onboarding of newly acquired companies into client''s security ecosystem
  • Scope acquired environments and assess applicable security standards and controls
  • Work with engineering teams to implement vulnerability management, alerting, and monitoring
  • Partner with operations teams to establish security processes and workflows
  • Coordinate with threat intelligence teams for brand monitoring when applicable
  • Ensure evidence collection is conducted, managed, and archived in accordance with security and compliance guidelines
  • Participate in weekly or bi weekly calls with GRC teams and acquired companies
  • Maintain access to security tools, make updates as required, and track progress
  • Provide regular updates to leadership and maintain onboarding trackers
  • Manage security relationships with internal teams, lines of business, and stakeholders
  • Support product visioning and planning in partnership with program managers
  • Operate within Agile/SCRUM delivery frameworks and release planning
  • Identify gaps and recommend improvements to security processes and controls

Required Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in an information security or cybersecurity engineering role
  • Strong background in cybersecurity operations (less IT-focused, more security-focused)
  • Experience in incident response, SOC operations, or threat detection engineering
  • Solid understanding of network security and security controls
  • Experience with secure software development lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps, and Agile/SCRUM
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, complex environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex security topics clearly
  • Strong problem solving, design thinking, and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology or security-related field (or equivalent experience)
  • SIEM / analytics platforms such as Splunk
  • Data and reporting tools such as Databricks and Power BI
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions (M&A) security onboarding
  • Prior experience working in a SOC environment
  • Exposure to large enterprise or telecom environments
