Thermal Systems Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Thermal Systems Engineer in Alviso, CA.

Summary:
The Thermal Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, analysis, validation, and optimization of thermal management solutions for complex hardware systems. This role combines thermal engineering expertise with an understanding of firmware and software-controlled cooling systems to improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency. The Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to develop fan control strategies, troubleshoot system-level issues, and document thermal and firmware architectures.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support the development and optimization of thermal solutions for hardware platforms, including airflow management and cooling system performance
* Collaborate with thermal, firmware, electrical, and systems engineering teams to develop and refine fan control algorithms and thermal management strategies
* Analyze thermal performance data and assist with system-level debugging and root-cause investigations
* Contribute to the validation and qualification of cooling solutions through simulation, testing, and data analysis
* Support thermal monitoring, sensor integration, and control-system development
* Document thermal architectures, firmware interactions, and cooling-control designs to support product development and knowledge sharing
* Identify opportunities to improve thermal efficiency, reliability, and system performance
* Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle, from development through production

REQUIREMENTS:
* Experience working with thermal management, cooling systems, electronics hardware, or embedded systems
* Understanding of firmware, software, or control-system concepts related to hardware management
* Familiarity with thermal analysis, testing methodologies, and engineering data interpretation
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Skills:
* Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or similar
* Experience working with thermal simulation, testing, or hardware validation activities
* Knowledge of fan control systems, thermal monitoring, and environmental sensors
* Familiarity with server, storage, networking, or other complex hardware platforms

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
