ON-SITE - Thousand Oaks, CA - Must be currently local.  No out of area candidates will be considered.

12 month, W2 (ONLY) Contract - No C2C or 3rd Parties.
Rate: $45 - $50/hr

Must have experience supporting Laboratory Systems (School experience will be considered)

  • Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy administration
  • PowerShell, Batch, VBS, Python (scripting and automation) - a plus
  • Big data platforms and tools: Databricks, Apache Spark, SQL, Python for ETL, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift - Experience can be from college
  • AI/ML familiarity, including tools and frameworks (exposure or project experience)



Milestone / SMCI is seeking Specialist IS Analyst
with expertise in Windows system administration and strong experience in big data platforms and AI-related projects to support laboratory-based computer systems controlling laboratory instruments (instrument controllers). The IS Analysts will partner closely with scientific functional groups to install, configure, test, maintain, and troubleshoot lab workstation hardware and software while integrating advanced data solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with scientific staff and IS colleagues to resolve request tickets involving laboratory computers, including software and Windows OS upgrades, troubleshooting system issues, and supporting benchtop automation.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation tools and scripts for the OBS team (Batch Script, VBS, PowerShell), incorporating big data workflows where applicable.
  • Support corporate deployments of anti-virus and software patches to benchtop computers.
  • Conduct physical inventories of benchtop computers, reconciling with asset inventory systems.
  • Partner with external vendors to troubleshoot and deliver long-term solutions aligned with user needs.
  • Work closely with scientists and IS teams to translate complex computing and data needs into sustainable, standardized solutions, especially integrating big data architecture and AI-driven insights.
  • Lead and support software/hardware lifecycle projects including big data platform implementations (e.g., Databricks, Redshift, Snowflake) and AI/ML initiatives.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and database teams to ensure laboratory systems and instrument data flows meet corporate security, networking, and GxP regulatory requirements.

3+ years of experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, IT Help Desk, big data platform administration or AI project work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong customer focus with ability to manage IS ticket resolution aligning with customer expectations.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows system administration and SCCM; Linux system expertise is a plus.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills with Microsoft tools (Batch Script, VBS, PowerShell) and Python, particularly in automation.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting IT in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotech industries or equivalent, including knowledge of GxP system qualifications and computer systems validation.
  • Experience with big data platforms such as Databricks, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, and related ETL, data pipeline, or AI/ML project involvement.
  • Familiarity with scientific data acquisition systems (e.g., SDMS, Empower, PerkinElmer ELN).
  • Collaborative team player capable of working with distributed IS teams on complex projects, particularly those involving data integration and AI technologies.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability patching, OS lifecycle upgrades, and cloud security best practices.

  • AI/ML familiarity, including tools and frameworks (exposure or project experience)
  • AWS services: EC2, S3, IAM, networking, snapshots/backups
  • Endpoint management tools (SCCM, Intune or equivalent), antivirEDR solutions
  • Networking fundamentals, firewall/IP allowlists, domain troubleshooting (AM domain experience a plus)
  • Familiarity with ELN concepts (HLEE) and instrument data models

Work Environment:

  • Onsite role at Thousand Oaks, CA — candidate must be able to work onsite and interact directly with scientists and instruments.
  • May require participation in an on-call rotation and occasional after-hours support for critical incidents or planned maintenance windows.
  • This role collaborates cross-functionally with instrument owners, vendors, IS teams, and laboratory leadership.
The estimated pay range for this position is USD $45.00/Hr - USD $50.00/Hr.
