Summary

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing approved 3rd party for the duration of the specified project.

Collects information to support definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture and engineering design of products. Incorporates changes to specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes. Performs tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements. Assists with activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Conducts basic analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes. Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions. Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements. Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

Job Responsibilities
Define and maintain material specifications, process controls, and acceptance criteria for metals, metal alloys, coatings, heat treatments, and joining processes (welding, brazing, adhesive bonding, mechanical joining).
Investigate production failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Plan and execute metallurgical testing and characterization: microstructure analysis, hardness, tensile testing, fracture toughness, corrosion testing, non-destructive inspection (NDI) techniques.
Review supplier material certifications and test reports.
Maintain materials/process data, generate technical reports, and present findings to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
2+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelor's, or work-related experience with a Masters
2+ years of engineering experience in Aerospace industry
Problem-solving and analytical mindset.
Safety mindset and compliance with environmental/health regulations

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3-10 years of experience in Materials and Processes engineering in Aerospace industry
3+ years of experience working in a metallurgical laboratory environment
Must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
Project management and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Prior program work experience with aircraft
