Position Overview
The Information Technology Architect (Senior) will provide expertise in modern architecture principles, data management systems, Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW), and cloud-based Data Lake solutions. The role focuses on large-scale system design, healthcare data integration, transition planning from legacy systems, and scalable cloud-based data architecture solutions.
This position requires strong experience in data modeling, Medallion Architecture, Dimensional Data Modeling (Star and Snowflake schemas), healthcare interoperability standards, and cloud technologies such as AWS.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers in developing scalable and automated data pipelines.
- Architect and implement Medallion Architecture-based Data Lakehouse solutions with Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
- Design and develop cloud-based EDW solutions using technologies such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
- Build and optimize Dimensional Data Models including Star Schema and Snowflake Schema.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using AWS Glue, Apache Spark, Databricks, Airflow, and related technologies.
- Work with AWS services including Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR, HealthLake, Lake Formation, and S3.
- Process and integrate healthcare data using EDI X12 formats and map data to FHIR and HL7 standards.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and CMS interoperability standards through governance, lineage, security, and encryption controls.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to align data architecture with organizational goals.
- Drive CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices within data engineering workflows.
- Support transition planning from legacy systems to modern data platforms.
Required Qualifications:
General Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience planning, designing, building, and implementing IT systems.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or cloud data architecture.
- Minimum 2 years of technical leadership experience.
Specialized Experience
- Minimum 5 years managing or supervising large-scale IT implementation and integration projects.
- Experience serving as a lead or chief architect on enterprise-level implementations, preferably within healthcare environments.
- Strong understanding of client IT environments, enterprise architecture, and modern data solutions.
- Experience architecting cloud-based EDW and Data Lake solutions using Medallion Architecture.
- Strong expertise with AWS technologies including Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR, HealthLake, Lake Formation, and S3.
- Hands-on experience with EDI X12 healthcare transactions (837, 835, 278) and healthcare data integration.
- Experience implementing data governance, security, lineage, and quality controls aligned with HIPAA and CMS requirements.
- Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, or Scala.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, written, and verbal communication skills.
Education
- Bachelor''s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Master''s Degree preferred.
