We're hiring a Data Governance Lead to join our team in Spartanburg, SC. This role offers a hybrid schedule, 3 days onsite and 2 days offsite.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in data governance, master data management (MDM), or enterprise data strategy roles
- Demonstrated success in improving data management practices or data maturity in an organization is highly valued
- Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Strategy & Governance: Participate in developing and executing a comprehensive enterprise data strategy aligned with 2026 Data Strategy & Governance objectives; define clear data governance guardrails, policies, and roles, and recommend organizational structures (e.g., Data Governance Council, domain Data Stewards) that support data governance and accountability
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a 5-person Enterprise Data Management team across customer, vendor, and material master data domains; promote a data stewardship framework that emphasizes data ownership and quality within these key domains
- Data Maturity Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve organizational data maturity (currently around Level 2) to higher levels of governance and quality; create and follow a roadmap of improvement milestones that enhance data integrity and readiness for advanced use cases
- Data Quality & AI Enablement: Identify critical data assets and ensure their accuracy, integrity, and consistency to meet business needs; oversee data preparation and quality improvements that enable business insights, AI and advanced analytics; align data management efforts with technology initiatives — for example, ensuring our move to Microsoft Fabric (and other modern data platforms) is supported by well-governed, trusted data
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT, analytics teams, business units, and executive stakeholders to communicate the importance of data governance, stewardship, and data literacy; gain organizational alignment on data initiatives by regularly engaging senior leaders and promoting a data-driven culture
- Data Literacy & Training: Contribute to defining and implementing a data literacy and training program that educates employees on data best practices and governance; help develop training content and a communication plan to elevate data literacy across the company, ensuring that people, processes, and technology evolve together
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, data management, computer science, or a related field
The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000.
