SAP RTR (Record to Report) Consultant with Data Migration

Location: Edison, NJ

Key Responsibilities

SAP RTR Functional Responsibilities

• Lead and support Record to Report (RTR) processes including:
• General Ledger Accounting (GL)
• Accounts Payable (AP)
• Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Asset Accounting (AA)
• Bank Accounting
• Financial Closing and Reporting
• Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into SAP functional specifications.
• Configure and customize SAP FI modules to meet business needs.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP, local statutory requirements).
• Collaborate with CO, MM, SD, and other cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end process integration.
• Provide functional leadership during SAP implementations, rollouts, and enhancements.
• Support testing activities (Unit Testing, SIT, UAT) and defect resolution.

Data Migration Responsibilities

• Lead or support SAP data migration activities for RTR objects, including:
• GL balances
• Open AR/AP items
• Fixed Assets
• Bank balances and master data
• Define data migration strategy, scope, and approach.
• Perform data mapping from legacy systems to SAP structures.
• Work closely with technical teams on ETL tools, LSMW, LTMC, Migration Cockpit, or S/4HANA migration tools.
• Validate migrated data and ensure reconciliation between source and target systems.
• Support multiple mock migrations and final cutover activities.
• Document migration processes and reconciliation reports.

Stakeholder & Project Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and finance leadership.
• Mentor junior consultants and provide functional guidance.
• Coordinate with onshore/offshore teams and external vendors.
• Prepare functional documentation, training materials, and conduct knowledge transfer sessions.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience as an SAP FI / RTR Functional Consultant.
• Hands-on experience with SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA Finance.
• Strong experience in data migration for SAP Finance modules.
• Deep understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting.
• Experience with SAP integration points (CO, MM, SD).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in S/4HANA Finance transformation projects.
• Exposure to Central Finance or New GL.
• Knowledge of SAP Fiori and embedded analytics.
• Prior experience in global rollouts or multi-country implementations.
• SAP FI or S/4HANA Finance certification.

Soft Skills

• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
