job summary:

We are seeking a Senior VDI Platform Engineer to join our team supporting a major federal program with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division in Washington, DC. In this role, you will lead the architecture, implementation, and optimization of cutting-edge Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments to ensure secure, high-performance virtual desktop services across the organization.

responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, architect, and deploy Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) host pools, application groups, and multi-session Windows 10/11 environments.
• Automate VDI management tasks, resource scaling, user profile configurations, and system updates using PowerShell and Azure Automation.
• Maintain security configurations, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and conditional access policies in Azure Active Directory.
• Monitor system health, performance metrics, and log analytics to proactively resolve bottlenecks and provide Tier 3 technical support.

qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in enterprise VDI technologies, with at least 3 years explicitly focused on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).

Strong hands-on proficiency with Azure core services (Azure AD, Networking, Storage, Azure Monitor).

Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automated infrastructure management and scaling.

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance (requires background and soft credit pre-screening).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Active Microsoft Azure Certifications (Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate).

Prior experience with enterprise Citrix Virtual Apps/Desktops or VMware Horizon.

Experience supporting government agencies or federal law enforcement programs.
