About the Role
Russell Tobin is supporting a leading technology company in hiring a Business Operations Manager, Secure Platform Operations for a highly sensitive, security-focused operational workstream. This contractor will support enterprise and U.S. government customer programs by executing daily operational workflows related to account provisioning, access management, permissions, and internal administrative processes.
This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior level operations professional with experience in fast-paced technology environments and a strong track record of managing structured workflows, improving processes, and working cross-functionally with a high degree of accuracy and discretion.
The right candidate will be comfortable operating in a high-trust, high-accountability environment where attention to detail, sound judgment, and operational rigor are critical. Small errors can have meaningful downstream impacts across customer experience, security, compliance, and internal execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute customer account setup, configuration, access, and permissions-related tasks in internal administrative systems, following established runbooks and approval processes.
- Process approved request batches accurately and on schedule, verifying that changes take effect as expected.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, including updating trackers, closing request threads, and flagging mismatches between documented records and live system states.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, systems, and deployment environments, including secure or government cloud environments.
- Escalate discrepancies, bugs, unclear requests, or process gaps to the appropriate internal teams in a timely and well-documented manner.
- Support access management and provisioning workflows while ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and operational requirements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline, improve, and scale existing operational processes.
- Propose updates to runbooks and documentation when documented workflows drift from actual system behavior.
- Drive adoption of improved processes across stakeholders through clear communication, organization, and follow-through.
- Help reduce operational backlog and free up full-time team members to focus on program ownership and strategic initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in business operations, platform operations, technical operations, program management, deployment support, customer operations, or a related operations role within a technology company.
- Experience managing high-volume, multi-system operational workflows where accuracy and follow-through are essential.
- Strong program and project management skills, with the ability to drive initiatives across multiple teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and influence a broad range of stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail; comfortable working in environments where small errors may have customer-facing, security, compliance, or operational impact.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple request streams, trackers, systems, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Clear, concise written communication skills, especially in async and cross-functional environments.
- Comfort working in internal administrative tools, structured workflows, ticketing systems, request queues, and documentation.
- Ability to operate with discretion, sound judgment, and accountability in sensitive workstreams.
- Availability to work U.S. Pacific Time hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in operations at a fast-paced technology company, marketplace, fintech, infrastructure, AI, SaaS, or platform business.
- Experience supporting provisioning, access management, permissions, admin tooling, customer configuration, technical support, or deployment operations.
- Experience working with enterprise customers, public sector customers, government programs, or secure cloud environments.
- Familiarity with security-conscious or compliance-driven operational processes.
- Process improvement experience, including creating, updating, or scaling runbooks and workflows.
- Experience at companies with complex operational environments such as Stripe, Uber, Airbnb, DoorDash, Square, or similar technology organizations.
What Success Looks Like
- Routine operational requests are executed accurately and same-day whenever possible.
- Bugs, process gaps, and documentation issues are identified and escalated proactively.
- Trackers, request threads, and operational records remain accurate and up to date.
- Internal stakeholders have confidence in the accuracy, discretion, and reliability of the work.
- Existing team members are freed up to focus on higher-level program ownership.
