Senior Engineer – OT Enablement (RTLS)
Location: Houston, TX - Onsite
Type: Subcontract (C2C)
Role Overview:
- We are looking for a Senior Engineer – OT Enablement with strong expertise in Real-Time Location Services (RTLS) and industrial location technologies within Oil & Gas environments.
- This role focuses on enhancing personnel safety, asset tracking, operational visibility, and compliance across refineries, offshore platforms, pipelines, LNG terminals, and depots.
- The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Wi-Fi, BLE, and anchor-based positioning systems in OT environments, ensuring high availability and adherence to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
RTLS & Safety
- Design and deploy RTLS solutions for:
- Personnel tracking (man-down, mustering)
- Asset and tool tracking in hazardous areas
- Implement geofencing, restricted-zone alerts, and emergency response features
- Enable real-time visibility across industrial sites
Network & Infrastructure
- Optimize industrial Wi-Fi and BLE networks for harsh environments
- Perform RF surveys, heat mapping, and accuracy tuning across:
- Offshore platforms
- Refineries and tank farms
- LNG and pipeline facilities
- Ensure high availability, redundancy, and resilience
- Validate intrinsically safe RTLS devices (tags, anchors, gateways)
- Support HAZOP, audits, and safety compliance
Required Skills:
Core Expertise
- Strong experience with RTLS in Oil & Gas or hazardous environments
- Hands-on expertise in:
- Wi-Fi positioning
- Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
- Beaconing and anchor-based systems
- Deep knowledge of:
- RSSI, AoA, ToF, trilateration, fingerprinting
- Positioning challenges in metal-heavy environments
OT & Networking
- Industrial networking (WLAN, VLANs, segmentation)
- Experience with SCADA/DCS systems
- Knowledge of OT security and zoning concepts
- Experience in high-reliability industrial deployments
Preferred Skills:
- RTLS platforms: Cisco, Aruba
- Oil & Gas platforms: Siemens, AVEVA
