Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Scala Developer with strong expertise in backend development and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of functional programming, Scala ecosystems, and AWS infrastructure. This role focuses on building scalable, high-performance backend systems using modern microservices architecture.
Note: This is strictly a Scala Developer role — Data Engineer profiles will NOT be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Scala
- Design scalable and high-performance applications using microservices architecture
- Work with AWS cloud services for deployment and system management
- Build and consume RESTful APIs
- Implement asynchronous and concurrent processing systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system design and architecture
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
- Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Ensure application security, logging, and compliance standards
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in Scala backend development
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Scala type-level programming
- Strong expertise in object-oriented and functional programming
- Experience with Scala frameworks like Akka and Play
- Deep understanding of:
- Functional programming concepts (Monads, Applicatives, Type Classes, Category Theory)
- Hands-on experience with type-level libraries:
- Cats
- Shapeless
- 5+ years of experience with:
- AWS (Amazon Web Services)
- Docker (Containerization)
- Strong understanding of:
- Microservices architecture
- Multithreading & asynchronous programming
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with distributed systems and high-scale applications
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Exposure to performance optimization techniques
Soft Skills
