Full Stack Java Developer - Job Description/ Responsibilities

• Senior Java Full Stack Developer (Spring Boot, Kafka, React)
  We are seeking a highly skilled Java Full Stack Developer to join a mission-critical market data technology team supporting a leading financial services client in New York City. This is a long-term contract opportunity focused on building and enhancing high-performance systems that power real-time trading and pricing data across the organization.
  This role requires a strong foundation in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and ReactJS, along with experience working in low-latency, high-availability environments. The team is currently undergoing a strategic database transformation from SQL Server to Oracle Exadata, and this individual will play a key role in that evolution.

• Position Overview
  You will be part of a team responsible for a custom-built market data platform that caches, processes, and distributes pricing and curve data to trading desks and front-office applications. The platform is central to delivering real-time, scalable, and resilient data services.

• Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using:
• Java (Core + Spring Boot)
• ReactJS (modern frontend development)
• Build and enhance microservices-based architectures with a focus on:
• Performance
• Scalability
• Low latency
• Develop and implement Kafka-based streaming solutions for:
• Real-time data ingestion
• Event-driven data distribution
• Contribute to the migration from SQL Server to Oracle Exadata, including:
• Data model optimization
• Query tuning and performance improvements
• Optimize systems supporting real-time market data processing and distribution
• Leverage in-memory caching technologies (Hazelcast or similar) to support low-latency data access
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs
• Partner with Front Office and Production Support teams to:
• Troubleshoot critical issues
• Ensure platform stability and uptime
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests
• Participate in architectural discussions around:
• Messaging frameworks
• Data caching strategies
• Distributed systems design

• Required Skills
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Core Java
• Spring Boot / Spring Framework (Data, MVC, etc.)
• Proven experience with Apache Kafka for real-time streaming and event-driven architectures
• Strong background in Microservices architecture and distributed systems design
• Frontend development experience with:
• ReactJS (preferred) or similar modern frameworks
• Experience with relational databases and strong SQL skills
• Exposure to Oracle / Exadata is highly preferred (or willingness to ramp quickly)
• Experience with caching technologies (Hazelcast or similar)
• Strong understanding of:
• REST API design and development
• High-performance, low-latency system design
• Experience working in trading, capital markets, or market data environments

• Prior experience with Oracle Exadata migrations or optimization
• Familiarity with:
• DTCC, trade flows, or market data feeds
• Experience with Drools or rules engines
• Scripting experience (Python, Shell, or PowerShell)
• Exposure to production support / incident management in trading environments
