Position Summary

The CAD Operator is responsible for creating accurate, detailed technical drawings and layout designs for walk in coolers, freezers, and custom insulated panel structures. This role works closely with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to translate customer specifications into production ready drawings. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Design

• Produce detailed 2D CAD drawings for walk in coolers, freezers, and custom panelized structures.
• Interpret architectural plans, customer sketches, and field measurements to create accurate layouts.
• Prepare line art, elevations, floor plans, and door/hinge configurations for quoting and production.
• Update drawings based on engineering changes, customer revisions, or manufacturing requirements.

Technical Coordination

• Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to clarify specifications, dimensions, and project scope.
• Ensure drawings comply with company standards, building codes, and refrigeration industry requirements.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability before release.

Documentation & Workflow

• Maintain organized drawing files, revision histories, and project documentation.
• Support the quoting team by providing accurate drawings and technical details.
• Assist in developing and improving drafting standards, templates, and internal workflows.

Qualifications

Required

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting required; 3D is a plus).
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, dimensions, and layout principles.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical plans.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Preferred

• Experience in the walk in cooler/freezer, HVAC, refrigeration, or construction industries.
• Knowledge of insulated metal panels, door hardware, and commercial refrigeration components.
• Experience with manufacturing or fabrication drawings.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
