Job Title: Stress and Performance Tester
Contract Length: 24+ Month contract
Location: Charlotte, NC 28262/
Irving, TX / Chandler, AZ
Hybrid (3 days on site/ 2 days remote)

This role focuses on performance engineering across distributed systems. The engineer will design, execute, and analyze performance, load, and capacity tests while working closely with engineering and DevOps teams to improve scalability and system efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Execution


  • Design, develop, and execute performance test plans, scenarios, and workloads
  • Build, maintain, and customize test scripts to simulate real-world traffic and system behavior

Performance Monitoring


  • Monitor system health using observability tools
  • Identify constraints and performance degradation patterns

Analysis & Troubleshooting


  • Identify bottlenecks and isolate root causes
  • Provide clear, actionable recommendations

Service Virtualization


  • Design and implement stubbed or virtualized services
  • Enable controlled and repeatable testing environments

Collaboration


  • Work with developers, architects, and platform teams
  • Resolve performance issues and improve system design

Requirement Definition


  • Define and validate performance benchmarks including SLAs, response times, and concurrency limits

Core Responsibilities (Additional)


  • Design and execute performance, load, and capacity tests
  • Build and enhance scripts using LoadRunner and Postman
  • Analyze microservices performance in Kubernetes/OpenShift environments
  • Monitor systems using Splunk, SPLOC, Grafana, and AppDynamics
  • Perform root cause analysis across application, infrastructure, and network layers
  • Evaluate JVM performance (garbage collection, CPU, memory, heap, threads)
  • Develop service virtualization (stubs/mocks)
  • Test event-driven systems using Kafka and Redis
  • Contribute to CI/CD performance engineering and shift-left practices

Technical Requirements


  • Experience with performance testing tools
  • Experience testing RESTful and SOAP APIs and distributed systems
  • Understanding of Kubernetes/OpenShift (OCP)
  • Experience with cloud-based microservices architectures
  • Experience with observability tools (Splunk, SPLOC, Grafana, AppDynamics)
  • Knowledge of JVM performance tuning and memory management
  • Experience with service virtualization
  • Scripting/programming experience (C, Java, Python, or similar)

Desired Qualifications


  • Experience with Kafka
  • Experience with Redis
  • Experience integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of API gateways and middleware
  • Knowledge of network concepts (latency, proxies, load balancing)
  • Experience troubleshooting across multiple system layers
  • Experience in regulated environments
