Job Details

Position Overview
A growing electrical contractor is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for commercial, industrial, and design-build projects. This individual will develop accurate cost estimates, evaluate bid opportunities, support strategic pursuits, and provide mentorship to junior estimators. The role works closely with operations and executive leadership to drive successful project acquisition and profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed takeoffs, budgets, and competitive bid proposals for projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, RFQs, RFPs, and bid documents to identify scope, risks, and pricing requirements.
  • Lead estimating activities from opportunity review through final proposal submission.
  • Review and validate estimates prepared by team members for accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop conceptual budgets, cost models, and pricing assumptions during early project phases.
  • Coordinate job walks, site assessments, and pre-bid meetings as needed.
  • Prepare bid clarifications, scope narratives, exclusions, and supporting proposal documentation.
  • Participate in estimate reviews, bid strategy discussions, and project handoff meetings.
  • Track bid outcomes and maintain estimating records and historical cost data.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Mentor and train estimating staff while promoting best practices and process consistency.
  • Provide cost analysis, recommendations, and reporting to support business decisions.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of electrical construction estimating experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical systems, codes, and industry standards.
  • Experience leading or mentoring estimators and estimating teams.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, LiveCount, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents and generate accurate cost projections.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of labor productivity, material pricing, and market trends.

Work Environment
Primarily office-based with occasional travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings.
Frequent review of drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Additional hours may be required to meet proposal and bid deadlines
