Job Overview: Our client is looking for a hands-on Data Center Technician to support day-to-day data center operations and infrastructure activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working in enterprise or colocation data center environments and should be comfortable with physical infrastructure tasks including racking, stacking, cabling, patching, labeling, and hardware deployment.
This role is ideal for candidates with L1/L2 infrastructure support experience who enjoy working in fast-paced data center environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rack and stack activities for servers, switches, routers, and other network equipment
- Handle structured cabling, patching, labeling, and cable management
- Install, configure, and deploy data center hardware and infrastructure devices
- Support migration, installation, and patching activities
- Perform physical network connections and troubleshooting
- Maintain asset inventory and deployed hardware documentation
- Coordinate with network, infrastructure, and operations teams
- Troubleshoot basic Layer 1 and Layer 2 connectivity issues
- Monitor and maintain data center cleanliness, standards, and operational procedures
- Support hardware replacements, decommissioning, and device movements
- Participate in on-call support and after-hours maintenance activities when required
Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience in a Data Center Technician / Infrastructure Support role
- Hands-on experience with:
- Racking & stacking
- Cabling & patching
- Labeling & asset tracking
- Hardware installations
- Physical troubleshooting
- Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, switching, and routing
- Experience working with servers, switches, routers, and network appliances
- Familiarity with Layer 1 and Layer 2 troubleshooting
- Ability to lift and move hardware equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Networking certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or equivalent
- Experience in enterprise or colocation data center environments
- Exposure to Fortinet or other network security appliances is a plus
Nice to Have:
- Experience with ticketing systems and asset management tools
- Knowledge of remote hands support processes
- Understanding of data center best practices and safety standards
