Systems Administrator

Description

We are looking for a skilled Systems Administrator to join our team in Stockton, California. This is a Contract position with an initial duration of 3-5 months, offering an excellent opportunity for ongoing employment. In this role, you will work on-site, collaborating closely with the Enterprise Applications Manager and occasionally supporting the Associate Dean of the Computer Science department. You will play a vital role in providing IT support for academic lab environments and assisting faculty and staff members.

Responsibilities:
Deliver exceptional customer support to faculty, staff, and students, preferably with experience in academic settings.
Administer and maintain software installations within academic lab environments.
Manage operating systems, server configurations, and deployments.
Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell to streamline processes and ensure system consistency.
Implement and manage virtualization platforms such as Proxmox or VMware.
Configure and support applications like AWS Appstream and Workspaces.
Address technical issues effectively, providing clear communication throughout the problem-solving process.
Conduct proactive research and testing of new technologies, ensuring safe implementation with minimal disruption to the academic environment.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration or a related field.
Proficiency in Active Directory and Microsoft Windows Server.
Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Dell Technologies.
Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware and Proxmox.
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and server deployment processes.
Ability to script and automate tasks using PowerShell.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Capability to work 100% on-site and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
