Location: New York, NY (Onsite)
Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)
Start Date: 8/15/26
Hourly Rate: W2 $85 - $100/hour

Overview:

We are seeking a DATA Center IT Technician who will support our NYC client. This role will support Data Center Operations through installation and de-installation of network devices, server rack and hardware support, connectivity verification, mainframe environment monitoring, and asset and ticket documentation.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting data center operations, network hardware, ServiceNow ticketing, asset management, and enterprise server environments.

Duties:
  • Installation and de-installation of network devices and cable management systems.
  • Provide technical support to the network owner and user community.
  • Maintain and update accurate Service Desk trouble ticket documentation.
  • Monitor system interfaces and other communication utilities and take proper action.
  • Install and rack servers.
  • Add memory, hard drives, network interface cards, CPUs, and related hardware components.
  • Install KVM equipment and in-rack PDUs.
  • Monitor and maintain all servers in the Data Center.
  • Support and monitor large-scale IBM Z10 mainframe environments and peripherals.
  • Verify connectivity of all devices and troubleshoot reconnection issues.
  • Use ServiceNow for ticketing, tracking, and documentation.
  • Record, track, and maintain assigned user assets and inventory.
  • Manage daily and monthly backup tapes for offsite storage.
  • Perform inventory control activities.
  • Perform all other related duties.

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive, responsible experience in data processing, computer systems, and applications.
  • Hands-on experience installing network devices, servers, cabling, KVM equipment, in-rack PDUs, and data center hardware components.
  • Experience troubleshooting connectivity, reconnection, and hardware support issues in a data center or enterprise infrastructure environment.
  • Experience monitoring system interfaces, communication utilities, servers, and related operational environments.
  • Experience maintaining Service Desk trouble tickets, technical documentation, asset records, and inventory information.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Telecommunications background and experience for Network Services support.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience for operations specialty functions.
  • Ability to perform onsite support in New York, NY.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with a large-scale IBM Z10 mainframe environment.
  • Knowledge of IPL, TSO, MVS, JES2, and CA7.
  • Experience with IBM 4000, IBM 6500, and Canon VS 4400 peripheral environments.
  • Experience using ServiceNow ticketing systems.
  • Experience with asset management, inventory tracking, and backup tape handling for offsite storage.
  • Broad knowledge of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems, hardware capabilities, EDP applications, systems analysis methodology, and data management/retrieval techniques.

Educational & Certification Requirements:
  • Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
