Role PurposeWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Controls Engineering Intern to join our dynamic engineering team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting automated control systems for a variety of industrial applications. As an intern, you will work closely with experienced controls engineers, contributing to real-world projects while developing technical and professional skills in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design, development, and testing of control systems, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, HMI (Human-Machine Interface) development, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
- Support troubleshooting and debugging of control system hardware and software issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in drafting and reviewing technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
- Help with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems on-site as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure project success.
- Conduct research on new technologies, components, and industry best practices relevant to control systems.
- Maintain accurate records of work and assist in preparing project reports and presentations.

Experiences/Education - Required- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation concepts.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or Function Block Diagram is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CAD software is beneficial.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May 27-July 31, 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
