Location: Malvern, PA Salary: $30.00 USD Hourly - $34.00 USD Hourly Description: Our client is currently seeking a Junior System Engineer

Responsibilities
  • Support the reliability, availability, and performance of business-critical applications and infrastructure.
  • Monitor production services, investigate system alerts, troubleshoot issues, and assist with incident resolution.
  • Perform operational activities including system health monitoring, log analysis, root cause investigation, and service maintenance.
  • Assist with application deployments, software upgrades, patch management, and change implementation.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and support procedures.
  • Learn and support cloud-based infrastructure and services, with a focus on AWS technologies.
  • Partner with engineering, security, networking, identity management, and operations teams to resolve technical issues and implement improvements.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Support security, compliance, audit, and vulnerability remediation efforts.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, team planning, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and support production systems as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems through academic coursework, internships, personal projects, or professional experience.
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts and modern infrastructure architectures.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Knowledge of scripting or programming fundamentals in one or more languages.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GitHub and collaborative software development workflows.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or Claude.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, secure coding practices, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience supporting applications, cloud environments, or production systems through internships, academic projects, or personal projects.
  • Knowledge of AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, and Security Groups.
  • Exposure to DevOps, automation, and site reliability engineering practices.
  • Experience with financial services, payment systems, or highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Swift ecosystem technologies is a plus.
