Overview

This is a true entry-level Data Center Technician role designed for individuals looking to get their foot in the door and begin a long-term career in data center operations and IT infrastructure.
No prior data center experience is required. This position is ideal for candidates who are motivated, eager to learn, and interested in starting a career in technology. Training will be provided, and the role focuses on building foundational skills in a large, enterprise data center environment in Newtown Square, PA.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with clear growth potential for candidates who demonstrate reliability, curiosity, and a strong work ethic.

Training & Schedule

  • Initial training period (approximately 4-6 weeks): Standard Monday-Friday schedule
  • Post-training: Transition to a 24/7 rotating shift environment
  • Shift rotations occur approximately every 6 weeks
  • Must be flexible to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1 (Level 0) data center support in a mission-critical environment
  • Monitor, log, prioritize, and respond to incidents using documented procedures
  • Use monitoring and service management tools to identify and diagnose issues
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks and pre-emptive checks
  • Escalate unresolved issues and follow through to resolution
  • Document incidents, changes, and resolutions accurately
  • Assist with hardware support, cabling, and cable management
  • Maintain accurate asset and configuration records
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors as needed
  • Ensure all tasks meet defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Required Skills & Qualifications (Must Have)

  • No prior data center experience required
  • Interest in technology or IT infrastructure
  • Willingness to learn data center tools, processes, and best practices
  • Comfort with or willingness to learn cabling work
  • Flexible availability for rotating shifts
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow documented procedures

Nice to Have Skills (Not Required)

  • Any exposure to IT, hardware, or technical support
  • Cable management or hands-on technical work
  • Familiarity with ticketing or monitoring tools

Technical Knowledge (Entry Level)

  • Introductory understanding or interest in:
    • Hardware components
    • Redundancy concepts
    • Remote console and management tools
  • Exposure to enterprise hardware vendors is a plus but not required
