Our client, a leading Fortune 500 retail corporation with a strong national presence and a robust technology division, is seeking a Java Back-End Developer to join their enterprise engineering team. This role is ideal for a technically driven developer who thrives in a fast-paced, large-scale retail environment where innovation, scalability, and reliability are key. Job Description
As a Java Back-End Developer, you will design, develop, and test code that delivers functionality aligned with the overall business strategy and objectives. You will play a key role in evaluating and implementing open-source technologies, configuring production clusters for multi-tenant platforms, and supporting enterprise-level infrastructure and applications. This position requires strong collaboration with cross-functional technology teams, as well as direct engagement with end-users to troubleshoot, communicate, and deliver solutions effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and testing code to deliver functionality that meets business strategy and objectives.
  • Testing open-source technologies for proof of concepts.
  • Configuring production clusters for multi-tenant platforms.
  • Performing knowledge-based recovery of incidents and events.
  • Communicating with end-users through both verbal and written channels.
  • Executing repeatable tasks including maintenance, deployments, and monitoring.
  • Engaging and partnering with other technology teams to support enterprise solutions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Ansible, Java, Linux, and PostgreSQL.
  • Proven expertise in testing open-source technologies for proof of concepts.
  • Experience configuring production clusters for multi-tenant platforms.
  • Experience with open-source data technologies such as Hive, Trino (Presto), and Spark.
  • Strong understanding of Unix/Linux-based operating systems, including proficiency in Linux, command-line tools, and general system debugging.
  • Strong fundamentals of infrastructure and/or application technologies in an enterprise environment.
  • Basic understanding of ITIL.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Apache Hadoop.
  • Experience with Chef.
