Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Data Modeler with 15+ years of experience in enterprise data modeling, data architecture, data warehousing, and semantic modeling. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Erwin Data Modeler and extensive experience designing conceptual, logical, physical, dimensional, and enterprise data models.
The Lead Data Modeler will work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, data engineers, BI teams, and offshore teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable and governed data models. This role requires someone who can lead modeling initiatives, establish data modeling standards, review existing models, mentor other modelers, and drive enterprise-wide data architecture decisions.
Key Responsibilities
•    Lead the design and development of conceptual, logical, physical, dimensional, and semantic data models for enterprise applications and analytics platforms.
•    Provide technical leadership for enterprise data modeling initiatives and mentor data modelers and engineering teams.
•    Strong hands-on experience with Erwin Data Modeler for creating, maintaining, and documenting conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
•    Proficient in database design, data architecture, ER modeling, and enterprise data modeling using Erwin.
•    Define and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, relationships, keys, normalization, metadata, and documentation standards.
•    Design dimensional models including fact tables, dimension tables, star schemas, snowflake schemas, SCDs, conformed dimensions, and enterprise subject-area models.
•    Translate complex business requirements into scalable and reusable data models.
•    Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure models are properly implemented across databases, data warehouses, lakehouses, and data platforms.
•    Review existing data models and recommend improvements for performance, scalability, data quality, consistency, and maintainability.
•    Develop and maintain ER diagrams, source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, business definitions, metadata, and data lineage documentation.
•    Partner with business stakeholders, architects, developers, BI teams, and offshore teams to ensure alignment between business requirements and technical data solutions.
•    Support modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or similar technologies.
•    Provide technical guidance on semantic models, reporting structures, KPIs, metrics, and enterprise analytics requirements.
•    Identify data quality, integration, and modeling issues and provide appropriate recommendations and solutions.
Required Experience
•    15+ years of overall experience in Data Modeling, Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, or Enterprise Data Management.
•    Strong hands-on experience with Erwin Data Modeler is required.
•    Extensive experience developing Conceptual, Logical, Physical, Enterprise, Dimensional, and Semantic Data Models.
•    Strong understanding of relational database design, normalization, denormalization, ER modeling, keys, relationships, constraints, and data structures.
•    Strong SQL skills and understanding of enterprise database technologies.
•    Experience with data warehouse and dimensional modeling concepts, including facts, dimensions, grain, SCD, star and snowflake schemas.
•    Experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or similar.
•    Experience with data governance, metadata, data lineage, data quality, master data, and reference data.
•    Proven experience leading data modeling projects and mentoring junior/mid-level data modelers.
•    Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders.
•    Experience coordinating with offshore/onshore teams and managing multiple data modeling initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or other BI/analytics platforms.
•    Experience with Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar data governance/catalog tools.
•    Experience with Databricks/Delta Lake, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or other modern lakehouse technologies.
•    Knowledge of Data Vault, Data Mesh, domain-driven data architecture, or data products.
•    Experience in large-scale enterprise environments with complex data landscapes.
•    Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
