Linux Systems Analyst/Networking

Introduction: Our client provides network services to many of the major CATV companies in the United States. The Linux/Networking individual will be part of the Platform Engineering team and provide advanced support for solution deployments in production customer environments. This position works between engineering and customer service, solving complex networking issues that arise.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and install hardware, networking software, operating system software, and software applications.
• Monitor the performance of systems and networks and provide analysis when requested.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade server hardware and software.
• Implement network traffic and security monitoring software and optimize server performance.
• Perform routine network troubleshooting and maintain documentation records.
• Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
• Conduct testing, analysis, and perform shell scripting or other basic scripting tasks for security and quality controls.
• Operate, maintain hardware, software, and related server equipment.
• Maintain server hardware and software and monitor and optimize network connectivity and performance.

Requirements:

• Position is contract and work remote.
• Experience in the CATV industry is helpful.
• BS degree in Computer Science or related field.
• System analysis and configuration experience in LINUX.
• Solid understanding of network and web technologies e.g., TCP, HTTP, REST.
• Deep understanding of Redhat (Ceph Storage) in a production environment.
• Three years of Agile methods and processes experience.
• Working knowledge of scripting and programming languages including but not limited to Bash, and Python.
• Ability to triage complex customer issues in an expedient and professional manner.
