On Call Support: 1-week per month (in tandem with onshore / offshore support teams, making afterhours infrequent)

JOB SUMMARY
Vaco Technology is currently seeking an L2 Virtualization Engineer for a 6M C2H opportunity that is 100% remote. The L2 Virtualization Engineer will provide operational oversight and hands-on support for virtualization and compute initiatives across managed services environments. The L2 Virtualization Engineer will join an 18-person team and will deliver L2 support for a broad range of virtualization technologies (VMware/vSphere / VCF / NSX / VMware on AWS / Azure VMware / Hyper-V / Nutanix AHV/HCI, etc.) and associated hardware (Cisco UCS / Dell) / VxRail / Nutanix NX/NCI, etc.), ensuring alignment with infrastructure stability, best practices adherence, and client satisfaction objectives. The L2 Virtualization Engineer will act as a collaborative escalation point, balancing performance with reliability to support the mission of delivering stable and efficient managed services platforms that drive enterprise success.
  • Providing L2 Incident / Problem / Change Management | Triaging Technical Events / Requests | Appropriate L3 / Vendor Escalation
  • Participating in P1 Customer Calls with Occasional Direct End-Client Interfacing | Acting as Intermediary for Limited-Scope Cloud Integrations | Opening / Managing Vendor Tickets for CMS / AWS / AVS Issues
  • Performing Major Version Upgrades / Routing / Maintenance Across Customer Environments | Working on Pre-Existing End-Client Environments
  • Collaborating Cross-Team to Troubleshoot Complex Issues Involving NSX | Coordinating with Storage Teams Handling Provisioning / LUN Expansions
  • Creating / Maintaining Detailed Documentation | Ensuring Environments are Health / Stable / Configured to Technical Best Practices
  • Communicating Transparently with Customers / Internal Teams | Working with Vendors to Resolve Virtualization / Compute Issues

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • L2 Virtualization Engineer (5+ years) – Supporting Enterprise Operations | VMware/vSphere / VCF (3+ years) / NSX / VMware on AWS / Azure VMware / Hyper-V / Nutanix AHV/HCI, etc.
  • Performance Monitoring / ITSM (5+ years) – LogicMonitor / Elastic / ServiceNow, etc.
  • Virtualization (5+ years) – Hyper-Converged Infrastructure Support | VMware/vSphere v8+ / VVF (required) / VCF v9 / vSAN / NSX-T / Aria Suite / SDDC Manager / Workload Domains / Full Deployment/Lifecycle Management
  • VCF (Virtual Cloud Foundation | 3+ years) – VCF Architecture (basic understanding | vSphere / vSAN / NSX-T / Aria Suite) | SDDC Manager Interface / VCF Admin Tasks (intermediate) | Workload Domains / Converged Infrastructure Principals | VCF Deployment Processes / Lifecycle Management Procedures (knowledge) | Performing Routine VCF Maintenance Tasks
  • Hardware – Managing Cisco UCS / Dell Server Platforms (Rack Mounted / Blade / Hyper-Converged Systems) | Hands-On Familiarity with Dell VxRail / PowerFlex / PowerStore Solutions (strongly preferred)
  • Scripting / Automation (practical experience) – PowerShell / PowerCLI for Real-World Customer Environments | Enterprise Automation Frameworks (Terraform / Ansible | nice to have but not required) | Creating / Utilizing Scripts (strongly preferred)
  • OS Support – Windows Server / Linux Administration (RHEL / Ubuntu / CentOS)
