Summary
Education Minimum Requirement: Bachelor degree in a related field with no experience, an Associate degree in a related field with 2 or more years of experience, high school diploma or equivalency with at least 5 years relevant experience in a related field.
Required Experience and Skills**:
Familiarity with basic to moderately complex laboratory techniques and procedures required.
General knowledge in the areas of biology and chemistry.
A high level of organization, tact and patience.
Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal supervision.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to handle large amounts of detailed work and work on several projects at one time.
Good mathematics and writing skills.
Ability to work on a team with people from both inside Quality Control as well as other departments such as Research and Development and Manufacturing.
Ability to lift and move material (i.e. lifting up to 25 lbs.) manually and through the use of dollies/hand trucks.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Proficiency with and knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures relating to 9 CFR testing of veterinary biologicals preferred.
SAP and LIMS experience preferred.
ELISA, cell culture, bacterial and viral inactivation assurance testing, and HPLC experience preferred.

Position Description
The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine basic and mid-level laboratory procedures with minimal guidance for the testing of veterinary biologicals according to strict government and company imposed guidelines.
The primary tasks of the role will be to perform Quality Control release and transfer testing to include mammalian and insect cell culture, bacterial and viral inactivation assurance testing, ELISA, HPLC, and others assigned.
Responsible for preparation/sterilization/maintenance of media/solutions/glassware/equipment.
Perform routine quality control procedures to include mammalian and insect cell culture, bacterial and viral inactivation assurance testing, ELISA, HPLC, and others as assigned. This position requires an understanding of the principles underlying the testing procedures used in the areas of assignment. In addition, a basic understanding of the material being evaluated (virus, bacteria, cell line) is also required.
Enter test results in the appropriate tracking system (LIMS and/or SAP). Cross-check wet records with information in the tracking system and evaluate test dispositions (satisfactory, unsatisfactory, inconclusive, no test). Report to QC Management all unusual, non-routine occurrences when performing tasks. This includes completing the necessary documentation.
Prepare and qualify test reagents/supplies/solutions/media. Participate in the creation/revision of SOPs/test methods/test worksheets for testing performed in the area(s) of assignment.
With limited guidance, trouble-shoot basic and mid-level test methods.
Peer record review.
Participate in other special projects or activities as assigned by management.
