Description & Requirements

Maximus is seeking a Lead Windows Engineer to provide senior-level technical leadership and supervisory oversight for Windows-based server and enterprise infrastructure supporting mission-critical federal systems.

This role is onsite, 5 days a week, in Colorado Springs, CO, and requires an active Secret clearance.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Serve as a senior technical lead and escalation point across mission-critical enterprise environments.

- Provide day-to-day supervision, technical direction, mentoring, and workload coordination for Windows administrators and supporting technical staff.

- Coordinate technical work across teams to support the reliability, security, and operational readiness of Windows-based infrastructure.

- Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows-based server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, patch management, hardening, and lifecycle support.

- Monitor and report on the health, availability, and performance of infrastructure hardware, software, services, and mission-critical applications.

- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident response, break/fix support, service restoration, and provisioning of Windows services.

- Develop, maintain, and oversee patching, upgrade, backup, restoration, and disaster recovery plans to support high availability and operational readiness.

- Coordinate with cybersecurity, network, database, application, storage, and operations teams to support integrated system performance, compliance, and issue resolution.

- Create, review, and maintain system documentation, SOPs, runbooks, configuration guides, and knowledge transfer materials for administrator and operations teams.

- Install, configure, and troubleshoot local and wide area network applications, software tools, operating systems, and enterprise Windows services.

- Support management, maintenance, and operational readiness of Backup and Restore platform hardware and software.

- Desktop and tools management for VDI remote desktop infrastructure.

- Microsoft Clustering technology; support for both Exchange and MSSQL in clustered environments.

Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:

- Active Secret Clearance is required.

- 15 or more years of experience in the following:

- Dell Intel-based servers.

- MS domain infrastructure: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Network Policy Server, distributed patch, security and Exchange.

- Omnissa (VMWARE) VDI infrastructure and services; backend and frontend.

- MS Windows 11.

- MS Windows Server (2019 and current).

- McAfee Antivirus.

- Symantec Endpoint Protection.

- Veritas NetBackup.
- People management or team lead experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand, mission-critical environment
- Candidates must reside within a commutable distance for daily onsite work and on-call requirements.

- This contract supports systems that require 24x7x365 uptime. Candidates must be willing and able to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
