We are looking for a Founding Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to join a four-person team building autonomous agents that automate complex enterprise software implementations.

You'll be the first external hire at a recently seed-funded AI startup whose agents reduce six-month implementation cycles down to hours for customers like HubSpot and Campfire.

What will you be doing?

• Building core backend systems powering Dora's long-horizon agent workflows (orchestration, integrations, data pipelines)
• Working across Go, Rust, TypeScript/React, Kafka, MongoDB, and AWS infrastructure
• Solving complex distributed systems challenges around agent context management and multi-source data processing
• Owning features end-to-end including testing cycles and bug fixes from day one
• Helping scale the agent platform beyond ERPs/CRMs into new implementation verticals

Miscellaneous

Based near SF or NYC; willing to travel quarterly for team onsites

Team Structure

• Current team of four, all engineers, including the hiring manager.
• Team plans to expand due to a long pipeline of customer demand.

Role Requirements

• Looking for an engineer with 3-5 years of experience, open to new grads with substantial experience.
• Role is backend-focused but requires comfort with full-stack tasks.

Seniority

• 3 - 7 years of experience in backend engineering, with focus on Go or Java typed languages

Work experience

• Worked at a high- growth startup (Seed/Series A onward)
• Built distributed systems or data pipelines in production at scale
• Built AI agent systems from scratch

Education

• CS, Math, or Software Engineering degree

Hard skills

• Proficient in a strongly- typed language (Go, Java, C, or Rust)
• Distributed systems experience (Kafka, Temporal, or similar)
• AWS infrastructure and cloud deployment experience

Candidate Preferences

• Ideal candidates have startup experience, preferably from early-stage environments.
• Experience with distributed systems and strong typing languages like Golang, Java, or C is preferred.

Work Arrangement

• Role is remote-friendly but prefers candidates near SF or NY for future office plans.
• Quarterly team meetings in different cities, requiring occasional travel.

Timeline and Interview Process

• Three-stage interview process: initial culture fit, technical interview, team meeting, followed by a work trial.
• Looking to fill the position as soon as possible.

Technical and Soft Skills

• Must have experience in a typed language and AWS; nice-to-haves include experience with Golang and React.
• Exceptional communication skills and adaptability to startup dynamics are crucial.
