OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced
Workday Senior Security Administrator to lead post-implementation security review and ongoing governance for a large Workday HCM environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring secure, compliant, and scalable access across all HCM modules, reporting, integrations, and technical controls.
The ideal candidate brings a top-down, enterprise-level mindset-partnering closely with internal stakeholders and implementation vendors to assess current security architecture, streamline complexity, strengthen controls, and establish a sustainable governance framework that supports audits, compliance, and future growth.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the lead Workday Security Subject Matter Expert, providing strategic and hands-on direction.
- Lead post-implementation security reviews to validate configurations align with governance, compliance, and access control standards.
- Partner with HR, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and implementation vendors to understand access needs and deliver secure, compliant solutions across complex environments.
- Analyze and optimize Workday security configuration, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and unintended access.
- Design and maintain role-based security models, including domain, business process, and reporting security.
- Support Workday reporting and integrations, ensuring appropriate data access, secure data transmission, and compliance with internal controls.
- Develop and maintain custom reports using Workday reporting tools.
- Support Authentication and Single Sign-On (SSO) in collaboration with internal teams and implementation partners.
- Troubleshoot and remediate security-related and technical issues as needed.
- Create and maintain documentation supporting system design, security decisions, SOX controls, audit evidence, and governance standards.
- Proactively monitor upcoming Workday releases to assess new security functionality and identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve efficiency.
- Ensure ongoing system security, stability, and audit readiness.
- Maintain records in accordance with applicable records management policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- 6+ years of hands-on experience administering Workday HCM Security.
- Deep expertise across Workday HCM modules, including Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, and related areas.
- Proven experience with user authentication, authorization, data security, and system auditing within Workday.
- Strong experience creating and maintaining custom reports using modern Workday reporting tools.
- Demonstrated success designing and managing role-based security models.
- Experience leading or supporting Workday implementation and post-implementation security initiatives.
- Ability to operate independently at a senior/manager level, managing priorities without direct people management responsibility.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proven ability to mentor team members and transfer knowledge.
- Active Workday Pro Security Certification(s) required.
