Information Systems Security Officer

Our organization is in search of a driven, career-focused, and client-oriented Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) - I to become a part of our team in the Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA region.

In this position, you will deliver essential daily security support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) initiatives that align with SSC and AFSPC mission objectives.

• Review, prepare, and revise AIS accreditation packages along with Body of Evidence documentation.
• Conduct AIS self-assessments, perform security surveys, and review system test plans for security compliance.
• Identify vulnerabilities within AIS, implement necessary countermeasures, and monitor responses to inspections.
• Maintain security records for AIS, system baselines, and Co-Utilization Agreements for network nodes.
• Ensure that AIS and network nodes are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with security policies.
• Support Department of Defense and contractor entities in their certification and accreditation processes.
• Organize and track AIS security training for personnel within the organization.

• High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor s degree with over 1 year of related experience.
• At least 1 year of experience related to Special Access Programs (SAP).
• Must fulfill position and certification requirements as specified in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level 2 within 6 months of hire (e.g., Security Plus CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+).
• Possession of an active DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+) or the ability to obtain it within 6 months.
• Completion of training on Joint Security Implementation Guidance (JSIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF).

• Knowledge of ICDs, JAFANs, DoD Manuals, and related security policy documents.
• Experience collaborating effectively in fast-paced environments with DoD, military, civilian, and industry partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

• Current Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• Candidate must qualify for access to Special Access Programs.
• Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph examination.

• This is a full-time on-site position at Vandenberg Space Force Base.
• Ability and readiness to travel within the organizational Area of Responsibility via air and ground transportation.
• The individual in this role must be capable of remaining in a stationary position for extended periods in enclosed office settings.
• Must be able to occasionally move around inside and outside the office to access files, cabinets, safes, and to install or remove computer-related equipment.
