About this Job The Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System (LASERS) provides a defined benefit pension plan for state officers, employees, and their beneficiaries. Our membership totals approximately 100,000 members.
This position will be working as an IT Applications Developer 1, 2, or 3 to support and develop existing and new enterprise systems and applications.
Minimum QualificationsThree years of experience in information technology; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in information technology; OR
An associate's degree in information technology plus one year of experience in information technology; OR
A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in information technology; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field; OR
A master's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:- Support, maintain, enhance, and develop existing and new enterprise systems and applications.
- Analyze system changes, enhancements, and designs to ensure data integrity, system availability, performance, and reliability.
- Evaluate change requests and determine their potential impact on existing mission-critical systems and applications.
- Collaborate with business clients to identify issues, define and document change requests, gather current and future business requirements, and communicate project and request status.
- Participate in meetings, design sessions, and informal consultations with clients and stakeholders to understand business needs and develop effective technology solutions.
- Partner with business unit clients, both remotely and in person, to identify opportunities where technology and automation can improve efficiency, productivity, and workflow.
- Analyze business processes and recommend appropriate technology solutions, including office automation and application enhancements.
- Troubleshoot technical and application-related issues in collaboration with software vendors, technical support personnel, and other IT resources until an effective solution is identified and implemented.
Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational.
LASERS requires all new hires to serve a minimum of eighteen (18) months not to exceed twenty-four (24) months in probational status including permanent state employees.Career Progression: This position may be filled as an IT Applications Developer 1, 2, or 3.
Work Schedule: 8 hours Monday - Friday, choosing a schedule with a start time between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.
