ADVANCED MEDICAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT (AMSA)

Position Summary

GD Resources LLC is seeking Advanced Medical Support Assistants to support the Dayton VA Medical Center. The AMSA is a key administrative member of the patient care team and helps ensure timely scheduling, accurate patient information, responsive customer service, and efficient coordination of non-clinical patient-care activities.

Required Qualifications

• Two to three years of relevant medical administrative/support experience, or certification from an accredited institution related to medical administration.
• Strong customer-service, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, scheduling tasks, follow-up actions, and deadlines in a healthcare environment.
• Comfort working with electronic health records, appointment scheduling systems, scanning, records management, and office equipment.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently and complete VA background, privacy, security, and mandatory training requirements.
• Prior VA, hospital, clinic, or medical-office experience is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform front-desk, receptionist, and customer-service duties for one or more clinics or units.
• Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments accurately; support access contingency plans when staffing or coverage changes.
• Manage non-clinical administrative tasks by tasking, tracking, and following actions from initiation through closure.
• Verify patient identity and update demographic, contact, insurance, and related administrative information.
• Screen telephone calls, determine the nature of requests, and provide or route information using privacy and clinic procedures.
• Review active/pending consults, recall lists, return-to-clinic lists, and related communications for accuracy and disposition.
• Participate in team huddles/meetings and maintain accurate electronic patient and administrative records.
• Guide Veterans to appropriate support services and maintain tact, confidentiality, and excellent customer service.

• Report on time and remain available for the full scheduled shift.
• Maintain accurate work, meet deadlines, and communicate barriers affecting patient access or scheduling.
• Comply with VA privacy, HIPAA, information-security, patient-safety, and records-management requirements; complete required VA training.
