Summary

Overview

Client First Technologies currently is seeking an IT Specialist - System Administrator to support our government customer. The IT Specialist - System Administrator plays a vital role in managing and maintaining government IT environments, ensuring system availability, security, and compliance with federal regulations.

This is a full-time, on-site position at Ft. Johnson in Louisiana.

Requirements

  • System Maintenance and Upgrades: Install, configure, and update hardware, software, and operating systems to maintain system integrity
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security measures to protect sensitive government data, ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, and DFARS
  • User and Access Management: Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication protocols to maintain system security
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve system issues to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Implement backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to protect critical government data
  • Configure and maintain servers, networks, and IT systems
  • Implement security patches, updates, and access controls
  • Monitor system performance and addressing vulnerabilities
  • Support end users with technical issues and troubleshooting system errors
  • Ensure compliance with government IT security regulations and policies
  • Administer and maintain MTC network infrastructure tools, systems, and applications across LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments
  • Manage and support enterprise servers, network devices, and databases to ensure availability, reliability, and performance
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot system or connectivity issues
  • Ensure systems and infrastructure comply with applicable legal, regulatory, cybersecurity, and RMF requirements
  • Configure and maintain network hardware, routing protocols, and switching infrastructure
  • Implement and support Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and secure authentication mechanisms
  • Support system security accreditation processes, including documentation, audits, and compliance reporting
  • Maintain system and network documentation, configuration baselines, and operational procedures

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in system administration, preferably in a government or DoD environment
  • Strong understanding of Windows, Linux, or Unix operating systems
  • Experience with Active Directory, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and government security compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP)
  • Proficiency in system monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) are highly desirable
  • Experience supporting federal government or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity policies and RMF processes
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Security+, CISSP, or similar preferred
  • Strong knowledge of network architecture and protocols, including the OSI model
  • Experience with routing protocols, Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF), and IEEE 802.1X authentication
  • Experience working with multiple network equipment manufacturers, including Cisco
  • Experience supporting Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) environments
  • Knowledge of security authentication and accreditation processes, including compliance with RMF requirements

Physical Demands
  • General office environment; work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 25% of the time; ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 25-50 pounds, such as servers, network hardware, or related components
  • Ability to bend, reach, and work in confined spaces such as server rooms, equipment racks, or network closets
  • Must be able to visually inspect hardware, cabling, and system components and perform fine motor tasks related to equipment installation and maintenance

Required Clearances and Screenings
  • Active U.S. Secret security clearance required (or the ability to obtain and maintain one, depending on contract requirements)
  • Must be able to maintain eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information in accordance with federal regulations and contract requirements
