Summary

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

To provide support to the CAD Manager on personnel matters and to assist with management and direction of the assigned CAD staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists in directing the efforts of the CAD staff including supervision of staff and associated personnel actions.
  • Assists in assigning CAD staff to jobs and assists in scheduling. Monitors job schedules and budgets.
  • Participates in review/completion process of Cost Schedule Impact Logs (CSIL's) and Request for Engineering Actions (REA's) as necessary.
  • Assists in providing technical support to CAD staff.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining departmental procedures.
  • Assists in ensuring adequate training for personnel.
  • Performs duties of CAD Designer and Operator as necessary.
  • Attends job interviews and participates in hiring decisions.
  • Supports CAD Manager in other department duties as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with subordinates, peers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules and procedures.
  • Good understanding of basic machining processes.
  • General mechanical background, electrical experience a bonus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • BA degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2 years technical training or equivalent experience.
  • At least 6 years CAD design experience with 3D modeling.
  • Experience in formal presentations, meeting leadership, managing conflict, planning and organizing, and developing others.
  • DoD experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Office environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
