Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Role Overview
We are seeking a technical contractor to join the Market & Counterparty Regulatory Reporting team. This role supports the delivery of accurate, timely, and regulator-aligned reporting. The position is at the intersection of risk subject matter expertise and technology delivery, with a primary mandate to learn and deconstruct current reporting processes, identify inefficiencies, design scalable automation solutions, and partner with technology teams for implementation. This role directly supports efforts to modernize reporting infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and reduce regulatory risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Market Risk and Counterparty Risk subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand and document end-to-end regulatory reporting workflows.
- Identify manual touchpoints, reconciliation gaps, data lineage issues, and opportunities for standardization in current processes.
- Develop future-state automation proposals and translate business processes into scalable technical designs, including data pipelines and reporting layers.
- Evaluate modernization opportunities, such as migrating legacy SQL-based processes to modern application frameworks like Java-based ETL.
- Capture detailed business and technical requirements in Jira, including epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Drive the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, from design and build through testing and production deployment.
- Analyze and work within complex reporting data environments involving large-scale relational datasets and risk aggregation frameworks.
- Incorporate modern visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau to reduce manual report generation and enable self-service analytics.
- Evaluate and recommend the use of emerging technologies, including AI/GenAI, to provide measurable efficiency or control improvements.
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise:- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
- Advanced proficiency in Java, with a preference for experience in enterprise applications and batch processing frameworks such as Spring Boot or Spring Batch.
- A strong understanding of data architecture, infrastructure design, ETL processes, data pipeline development, and scalable processing frameworks.
Experience:- 4+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work or consulting experience, training, or military experience.
- Proven experience writing detailed requirements in Jira and operating within Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
- A strong ability to translate SME discussions into technical solutions and partner across risk, data, and technology teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Market Risk or Counterparty Risk environments.
- Experience with regulatory reporting such as FR Y-14Q, CCAR, or Basel.
- Familiarity with stress testing processes and risk aggregation controls.
