Job Description

Overview

This role is a backfill position supporting large-scale application migrations from on-premises data centers to Public Cloud, primarily Azure with some AWS. The individual will sit between application teams, enterprise cloud partners, and infrastructure teams, acting as the primary technical escalation point to ensure successful cloud adoption in a highly regulated environment.

The work is hands-on and requires close, real-time engagement with U.S.-based application teams during business hours. This role cannot be offshored due to the level of stakeholder interaction, regulatory constraints, and active troubleshooting required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with application teams to migrate applications from on-prem to Azure (and ?? AWS)
  • Act as the technical liaison between application teams, enterprise cloud partners, and platform/pod teams
  • Provide hands-on support across infrastructure, code, and CI/CD pipeline layers
  • Design, build, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines for cloud-hosted applications
  • Triage and resolve issues related to pipelines, certificates, secrets/keys, passwords, and cloud infrastructure
  • Diagnose application behavior differences between on-prem and cloud environments, including performance issues
  • Help application teams understand cloud frameworks, patterns, and operating models
  • Navigate cloud adoption in a highly regulated environment with strict governance and security controls
  • Serve as the “go-to” escalation resource when teams are blocked by technical, process, or cross-team issues
  • Drive issues to resolution across project, process, and people-related challenges

Technical Scope

  • Cloud platforms: Azure (primary), AWS (secondary)
  • CI/CD and DevOps tooling: GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Jira, Datadog
  • Infrastructure: Azure IaaS/PaaS, networking, storage, identity, secrets management
  • Application stacks: .NET, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, React
  • Containers and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
  • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server (required), Cassandra (nice to have)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience building, deploying, and supporting enterprise applications or platforms
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-native application delivery
  • Strong hands-on experience deploying and operating applications in Azure (AWS exposure required)
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end cloud solutioning including security, resilience, availability, scalability, and performance
  • Proven experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and pipeline issues under time pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working across multiple teams and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps practices
  • Experience supporting cloud migrations in highly regulated environments
  • Financial services or banking domain experience
  • Experience supporting large, distributed application portfolios migrating to cloud.

Work Requirements

  • Onshore role only
  • Must work U.S. business hours to support application teams across East and West Coast locations
  • High-touch, daytime engagement is required; work cannot be shifted to off-hours or offshore teams
