Position Overview

Reporting to senior leadership within Identity & Access Management, this role will lead the engineering, delivery, and operations of enterprise IAM capabilities.

The Senior IAM Engineering Manager will oversee a mid-sized team of IAM engineers, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure delivery of secure, scalable, and compliant identity services across the organization.

This role plays a critical part in shaping IAM strategy while ensuring alignment with regulatory, audit, and risk requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IAM engineers 
  • Drive execution of enterprise IAM initiatives and transformation efforts 
  • Design and support IAM solutions across on-premises and cloud environments 
  • Own identity lifecycle management for workforce and application identities 
  • Oversee authentication and access technologies, including:
    • Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) 
    • OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) 
    • SAML 
    • Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) capabilities 
  • Enforce least privilege access and segregation of duties (SoD) 
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to meet regulatory requirements 
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to integrate IAM controls
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on identity-related risk and strategy 

Current Environment and Focus Areas

  • Ongoing modernization of identity platforms, including cloud-based identity solutions 
  • Enterprise IAM ecosystem leveraging leading identity governance and access management technologies (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID, SailPoint, Okta, or similar) 
  • Opportunity to further mature and scale an established IAM program

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in IAM, cybersecurity, or information security 
  • 3+ years of experience leading IAM engineering teams 
  • Experience within regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, or similar preferred
  • Proven experience managing large IAM programs or transformation initiatives 

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of: 
    • Authentication and authorization
    • Federation 
    • RBAC and ABAC models 
    • MFA and Privileged Access Management (PAM) 
  • Hands-on experience with: 
    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) 
    • SailPoint 
    • Okta or similar technologies
  • Experience integrating IAM with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform 

Leadership Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities 
  • Ability to operate independently with executive presence 
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams 

Work Environment

  • Onsite preferred in Greater Chicago Area
  • Hybrid flexibility (approximately three days onsite) available for the right candidate 

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary: $165,000 – $205,000+
