Client is seeking API Developers with a strong focus on AI driven API strategy, MCP/MCP Server development, and hands on coding using Go. Candidates must be comfortable working with UI tooling and Claude (AI tool), and able to step directly into an established, mature engineering environment. Project / API Program Details Client's API program is tightly connected to their AI strategy and third party integrations.
Key Program Goals:
- Improve how APIs support major 3rd party partners (e.g., delivery partners like DoorDash)
- Build a unified MCP strategy to act as a service catalog
- Collaborate closely with 84.51 (Client's analytics/insights organization)
- Build internal ACP/MCP servers
- Help shape Client's future AI enabled API architecture
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Hands on coding (primarily Go)
- Understanding and validating AI-driven solutions
- Light AI development (AI widgets not the core focus)
- Guiding teams on standing up AI skills/agents
- Building APIs to support 3rd party integrations
- Architecting and building MCP servers
- Defining AI strategy specifically around third-party use cases
Must-Have Skills
- Experience using Claude (AI tool)
- Strong development skills in Go (Golang)

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior API Developer to join our growing API team. In this role, you will be part of our API Incubation team responsible for prototyping and delivering production-grade API solutions from design through deployment and operational support. These APIs will interface with new and/or existing infrastructure and services, including APIs that expose AI/LLM capabilities (RAG, agents, and model orchestration) and data-focused applications.
What you will do
- Design, build, integrate, test, deploy, and support scalable APIs using our API Platform, API Style Guide, and underlying infrastructure.
- Partner with business stakeholders and clients to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and high-quality API solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and security to evaluate requirements, conduct feasibility assessments, analyze existing components, and develop integration plans.
- Employ an iterative approach to capability development that incorporates requirements refinement, user feedback, lessons learned, and other inputs.
- Create level-of-effort estimates, define task breakdowns, and drive delivery across milestones.
- Build strong partnerships across application, business, and infrastructure teams to ensure solutions are scalable and operationally sound.
- Create and maintain partner enablement assets, such as API guides and packages (e.g., Postman collections) for new feature launches.
- Create, update, and maintain external API documentation on our developer site.
- Apply an operational mindset, including SLOs, incident response readiness, cost/performance optimization, and security-by-design.
Ideal candidate will have
- Strong experience with API platforms, REST APIs, SDKs, HTTP, OAuth2/OIDC, and OpenAPI 3.0.
- Experience with microservices, PaaS, high availability cloud environments (Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform), and Rancher/Kubernetes.
- Experience with data platforms/warehouses (e.g., Databricks).
- Familiarity with agentic and AI-enabled API patterns, including RAG, agents, and model orchestration.
- Experience with one or more of: Java, .NET, Python, Golang, JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP), Agent2Agent (A2A), and Agent2Payments (A2P) is a plus.
- Strong engineering practices: agile methodologies, DevOps best practices, test-driven development, CI/CD build & deploy systems, and modern code repositories.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate proactively across infrastructure and engineering teams.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $50.00-$55.00 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include [geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate].
