Summary

Position Summary

Odyssey is seeking a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Engineer to support national space mission objectives at the NRO in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you will apply advanced modeling, simulation, and analytic techniques to help characterize spacecraft behavior, evaluate system performance, and shape future analytic planning. Your work will directly contribute to understanding complex space systems and ensuring critical mission capabilities for our government partners. This position offers the opportunity to make meaningful impact while working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Perform orbital mechanics modeling & simulation (M&S) (Mod/Sim) including orbit determination, orbital maneuvering, and spacecraft flight dynamics
  • Perform link budget, latency, and throughput analyses for RF and optical space-based relay and space-to-ground telecommunications
  • Perform assessments of satellite payload sensor phenomenology (optics/radar/RF) and product quality
  • Assess end-to-end system designs against Required Performance Parameters and identify required Technical Performance Measures
  • Create MS&A supporting documentation to include terms of reference, study plans, modeling assumptions, data input/output, analytic results, visualizations, and conclusions
  • Advise the government and contractor teams of forward-looking and follow-on studies, analyses to incorporate into a roadmap of future analytic planning

Qualifications


Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: TS/SCI with polygraph

Education: B.S. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) in engineering discipline

Years of Experience: We are looking for a diverse set of experience levels; must have 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience using one or more of the following: C++, Python, R, SQL, PostgreSQL, Linux, MATLAB, VBA, or STK
  • Engineering analysis (collecting, organizing, analyzing data) experience
  • Excellent communication skills that will allow the presentation of findings to internal and external customers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with free space optical and optical space-to-ground systems
  • Experience integrating MS&A and MBSE data sets using SysML
  • Experience developing and maintaining MBSE models
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of MS&A tools and software
