Software Developer
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Software Developer with strong hands-on experience in Python, C, and C++. All three programming languages are mandatory.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing software components, microservices, APIs, database integrations, secure software, testing automation, and modern DevOps practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware Development
- Design and implement Java-based software components for the LCC subsystem.
- Develop and maintain software using Python, C, and C++.
- Utilize containerized microservices architecture using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Integrate SQL-based data storage and clustering features.
- Apply cryptographic libraries for secure data handling.
- Develop and maintain gRPC and REST API interfaces.
- Work with data formats including JSON, YAML, XML, and Protobuf.
Collaboration & Design
- Work with senior developers, architects, and engineering managers to translate architectural requirements into working software components.
- Participate in weekly design and technical discussions.
- Propose and review technical solutions.
- Prepare design documentation.
- Participate in code inspections and implementation reviews.
Testing & Automation
- Define and implement unit tests for software components.
- Support Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) initiatives and automation.
- Collaborate with QA teams to develop BDD feature definitions using Gherkin syntax.
- Translate acceptance criteria into executable test scenarios.
- Work with BDD tools and frameworks such as Cucumber.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
- 5+ years of Python experience – Mandatory.
- 5+ years of C experience – Mandatory.
- 5+ years of C++ experience – Mandatory.
- Experience with Java development.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with SQL databases.
- Familiarity with cryptographic libraries and secure coding practices.
- Proficiency in gRPC and REST APIs.
- Experience with JSON, YAML, XML, and Protobuf.
- Experience with unit testing and automation.
- Experience with BDD/Cucumber/Gherkin is highly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
