Network Engineer – Consultant

Location: South Carolina (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Duration: 12 months; extension possible

Job Description

The Client seeks an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain VMware-based infrastructure and networked systems. The consultant will support enterprise virtualization, SAN environments, infrastructure monitoring, security, disaster recovery, and failover operations.

Key Responsibilities

·         Design, configure, monitor, and maintain VMware and server infrastructure.

·         Troubleshoot VMware ESX and SAN-related issues in enterprise environments.

·         Perform system upgrades, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization.

·         Support disaster recovery, failover, and security initiatives.

·         Develop technical design documentation and operational procedures.

·         Resolve infrastructure issues and coordinate with application teams, vendors, and management.

Participate in a shared 24/7 on-call rotation.

Required Skills:

13+ years IT experience

3+ years (Federal, State, or Local Municipality)

VCP certification or 5+ additional years of VMware experience, as specified in the requirement

Enterprise SAN and VMware Environments - 8+

8+ VMware ESX Administration

Capacity Planning:  Experience based on technical analysis and research

Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field

Preferred Skills:

NIST, PCI, or IRS Publication 1075 environments

TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards

Advanced knowledge of Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019
