Job Description Summary

Responsible for researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions for healthcare clients. Conducts economic modeling, statistical analysis, and market surveys. Develops tools, techniques, and theories to facilitate ongoing research activities for the client. Uses predictive and prescriptive analytics tools to forecast what may happen using probabilities and current confidence levels.

What You Will Do

Our Data and Analytics Consultants on the Department of Veterans Affairs team help clients maximize the value of their data and automate business processes. This high-performing team works with clients to implement the full spectrum of data analytics and data science, from data querying and data wrangling to data visualization and dashboarding, predictive analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotic process automation (RPA), and application development. Our services enable clients to define their information strategy, generate mission-critical insights, make data-driven decisions, reduce cost and complexity, increase trust, and improve operational effectiveness.

Our consultants focus on client services while also supporting business development, internal firm initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

The role will also support development of governed analytics and data applications in Azure Databricks, including use of Unity Catalog for data and AI governance, Databricks Apps for application delivery, and Azure commercial cloud services for scalable solution development and deployment.

What You Will Need
  • 2 - 4 years of professional work experience

Prior consulting experience or work similar to consulting

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and familiarity with one or more of the following analytical programming languages: Python, SQL, PySpark

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong analytical skills

Experience working with teams

Familiarity with Azure Databricks and its major components, including Unity Catalog, Databricks Apps, and the Azure commercial cloud environment

What Would Be Nice To Have
  • Hands-on experience developing, governing, or deploying data and analytics solutions in Azure Databricks, with practical knowledge of Unity Catalog, Databricks Apps, workspace administration, access controls, and integration with Azure commercial cloud services

Proven experience developing data-driven applications using Databricks ecosystem tools

Knowledge of the Department of Veterans Affairs and/or Veterans Health Administration environment

Prior experience developing methodologies and performing analysis to assess health plan and provider operations

Current PIV and ePAS form to access common VA data systems

Regular interaction with VA data systems, such as CDW, VA Common Operating Platform, Summit Data Platform, PPMS, CCRS, eCAMS, and VSSC

Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following analytical programming languages: Python, SQL, PySpark

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Willingness to contribute to business development, including RFP/RFQ responses, development of white papers and concept papers, and creation and demonstration of prototype solutions for customers
