Job Description:
The Application System/Database Integrator serves as a technical resource responsible for the integration, optimization, and support of the University's application portfolio. Duties include application development, system integrations, interface design, data mapping, data standards enforcement, and data security. The primary area of responsibility is the University's electronic workflow processing ecosystem, Etrieve. In addition, this role provides secondary support for the University's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Colleague, applying these same technical responsibilities as appropriate. This position allows candidates to work 100% remotely or on the Bristol campus with a hybrid schedule. Please note the individual must be available to work on an Eastern Time schedule as business requires.
Application Programming
- Proactively work with end-users within the University community to identify needs and requirements.
- Design appropriate programs using application tools to meet those needs and requirements within the specified timeframe.
- Analyze needs to determine where available tools can be leveraged to strengthen or enhance University operations. Perform programming tasks when uniquely skilled and during peak periods.
- Serve as a proponent and partner for added functionality in the RWU Campus Portal for students, faculty, staff and other constituents.
- Train departments and lead users on interfaces, data integration, and applications architecture. Serve as an integral resource during system upgrades and provide implementation support.
Application System Interfaces
- Document and maintain the applications portfolio and interfaces. Develop a standard approach and set of technical tools for system interfaces. Design and program application interfaces based on efficiency and optimization objectives. Coordinate testing of application system interfaces.
- Oversee the implementation and modification of application system interfaces in accordance with the University's systems architecture.
- Work with third-party vendors, as necessary, to facilitate the interfacing of vendor hardware and software with the University's applications.
Database Management and Integration
- Work with InfoTech managers and other technical staff to develop the data architecture, standards, and synchronization schemas in support of Etrieve applications.
- Work with database administrators to develop, test, and implement scripts and stored procedures to keep data in sync. Promote workflow tools for improved data management and information exchange.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of six years of progressive experience in the development, maintenance, and management of databases, application systems, reporting platforms and decision-support tools. ERP application support a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in web development programming tools including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Technical knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS) or comparable databases
- Technical knowledge of servers and networks
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software and data visualization tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including enthusiasm for technical challenges and the capacity to estimate and plan work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
- Strong capacity for managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to learn new concepts and apply them effectively
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including accountability for the timeliness of deliverables
- Ability to exercise discretion and appropriate independent judgment in the performance of duties
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to promote understanding, support cooperation and encourage productive outcomes; Commitment to interacting and communicating with professionalism, politeness, and positivity
- Ability to accept direction and work effectively with all levels of management and staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in dynamic, database-driven websites is highly desirable.
- Experience in a college or university environment.
- Data warehouse experience a plus.
